7 Tips to Try as You Transition Your Skincare to Autumn

Autumn is finally on the horizon. This beloved season means pumpkin spice lattes, layered clothing, and crisp weather. It also means it’s time to start transitioning your skincare from summer to autumn. You might think there’s no point, but trust us, the weather can cool down suddenly and strip your skin of moisture before you know it. It’s best to be as prepared as possible. These seven helpful tips can put you on the right path as you begin transitioning your skincare tips for autumn.

  1. Switch To A Thicker Moisturiser

With temperatures cooling down, your skin is more likely to become dry and in need of moisture. A thicker moisturiser can help protect your skin from over drying as temps drop (sometimes drastically overnight). The PREVENTION+® daily hydrating moisturizer SPF 30 is a great choice for adequate hydration that also contains an SPF. Yes, you still have to use an SPF even as the sun becomes less harsh and sets earlier in the day. We’ll talk about this more later.

  1. Opt For A Balancing Cleanser

A good cleanser like the ORMEDIC® balancing facial cleanser can help keep skin cleansed and hydrated and form a proper base for the application of other products. It features aloe vera as a key ingredient to help soothe skin and leave it refreshed.

  1. Remember Your Eye Cream

Eye cream is essential in autumn as it gets cooler. You may start noticing that lines become more visible around the eye area due to dryness, but you can help reduce their appearance with the right eye cream. The ILUMA intense brightening eye crème helps hydrate and brighten the eye area to reduce the appearance of lines and overall make you look more awake. It’s particularly helpful if you have dark circles. You can also try the MAX™ eye crème to help fight the effects of environmental damage.

  1. Don’t Neglect Your Lips

It’s usually in autumn, as temperatures cool down, that lips tend to become chapped. We’re all familiar with that uncomfortable feeling of dry, painfully chapped lips, but there’s no reason why you have to suffer every autumn. Use the ORMEDIC lip enhancement complex as needed throughout the cooler months for well-moisturised and nourished lips that won’t fall victim to getting chapped.

  1. SPF Is Still King

You naturally slathered on the SPF all summer long (we hope!), but sometimes people get a little lax on sunscreen during the colder months. It makes sense – the sun sets earlier and it feels like you don’t have to be so vigilant about sun protection. However, sun damage is cumulative, and damaging UVA/UVB rays affect skin no matter the season. Get into the habit of using the PREVENTION+® daily hydrating moisturizer SPF 30 daily. It’s also a moisturiser, so it packs a one-two punch.

  1. Some Serum Never Hurt

To go the extra mile for hydration, we recommend trying a serum like VITAL C hydrating antioxidant A C E serum. Serums typically have a higher concentration of key ingredients. The antioxidants in this one in particular will also help combat some of the sun damage you may have accumulated during those fun summer days.

Optional: Follow up with some brightening products like the ILUMA® intense facial illuminator and the ILUMA intense brightening crème to help reduce dullness or the appearance of any dark spots.

  1. Exfoliate But Don’t Go Overboard

You can usually cut back on exfoliation for autumn. However, you can incorporate a good mask into your routine about once or twice a week to maintain some form of exfoliation. If your skin gets very dry and flaky when it’s colder out, a gentle exfoliating mask can help remove this dead skin as well. The VITAL C hydrating enzyme masque is a perfect option because it features fruit enzyme exfoliants and two forms of vitamin C to help give you that coveted glow.
